Thumbnail Zoom Plus 3.0beta1 adds Disabled Sites (blacklist) preference

I’ve released version 3.0beta1, which has a new feature: you can now disable Thumbnail Zoom Plus on whatever sites you want.  This is also known as a “blacklist”.

Preferences are now in tabs, including the new Disabled Sites tab:

Disabled Sites preferences tab

Pop-ups will not be shown if the site containing the thumbnail or link matches a web address pattern in the list.  You can disable an entire site or just certain areas of the site.

An example pattern is “www.flickr.com/*”.  The “*” (asterisk) character is a wildcard, which matches anything; patterns typically end with “*” to let the web address end with arbitrary text.

How to add, remove, and edit sites:

  • The first “Add…” button adds an arbitrary site to exclude, prompting for the web address pattern.
  • The second button lets you Add or Remove the most recently visited site without having to type its web address.
  • The “Remove” button removes the selected item(s) from the list.
  • To edit an item double-click it.

Note that changes do not take effect on an existing tab until you reload the tab (Control+R, or Command+R on mac) or restart Firefox.

Thumbnail Zoom Plus still has the Site Checkboxes preferences for certain pre-defined sites.  Turning any of those off disables that site.  We may remove the Site Checkboxes preferences and menu in the future since they are redundant with Disabled Sites.

I’d love to hear your feedback about the new feature.  Please comment here or send mail to me at firefox.add.on@davidadler.name .
